About the artist
Ajípe Oluwadunsin Samuel is a Nigerian contemporary sculptor whose practice explores identity, memory, heritage, and human experience. Working with unconventional, discarded, and recycled materials, he transforms everyday objects into expressive sculptures that preserve overlooked stories and reflect the ways culture and social change shape our sense of self.
I create sculptures from unconventional, discarded, and recycled materials, transforming everyday objects into forms that hold stories and meaning. My work explores identity, memory, heritage, and the experiences that connect us. Through material experimentation and symbolism, I reflect on how culture, tradition, and social change shape our understanding of ourselves and where we come from. I am drawn to overlooked histories and everyday practices that risk being forgotten. My sculptures invite viewers to consider what has been lost, what remains, and what can be reclaimed. By bringing the past into conversation with the present, I hope to create space for reflection on our shared and personal histories.
