About the artist
Alena Ptsjolko is a Belarus-born, Estonia-based painter whose work explores nature, animals, and the unseen dimensions of human experience. She studied painting at Kiviõli Art School, graduating in 2023, and works primarily in oil with a palette knife. Her work has been exhibited across Estonia, including a solo show in Tallinn.
My paintings explore the bond between nature, animals, and the unseen layers of human experience. Animals and landscapes recur in my work as symbols of emotion, intuition, and the quiet connections between people and the natural world. Oil painting is at the heart of my practice. Lately I have set aside brushes for the palette knife, building thick, textured surfaces that give color and light a physical presence. I am inspired by Konrad Mägi, Monet, Aivazovsky, and van Gogh. Through my paintings, I invite viewers into a space between memory, fantasy, and spiritual reflection, where reality meets mystery.
