About the artist
Heini Maria is a Finnish visual artist whose style lies between Impressionism and Expressionism. Drawing inspiration from Finnish nature, forests, and landscapes, she works primarily with emotion, creating strong lines and bold use of color while maintaining a sense of naturalness. Her still life paintings are influenced by Helene Schjerfbeck: to create a soft effect, she wipes away color and softens her lines.
Nature is the central theme of my work. I paint mostly with oils and acrylics, and I aim to capture nature as it is felt, not only as it is seen. My style draws on both Impressionism and Expressionism. I returned to painting four years ago. I have always admired the Impressionists and their dedication to beauty, often pursued even when they could barely afford paint.
